Day 7- Rachel

¡Hola! Today is day 7 of our trip in Salamanca. This morning, Ashley and I woke up at 7:15 and had breakfast cookies with orange juice. Next, we went to class at the university and we learned about Spanish grammar and different types of food from around Spain. On our way back to our house, it started raining, but we stayed dry. We then had lunch which was fish and potato salad with our host mom. After, we went shopping at Zara. 

Next, we headed to the plaza mayor to meet for our bike ride. However, a few of us decided to get some ice cream before. Then, we went biking along the Tormes River which was fun and very pretty. Going uphill was hard, but overall I enjoyed the bike ride. 

Finally, we went to Restaurante Salam for dinner at 9:30. I had hummus for the first plate and lamb ribs for the second, which were both delicious. We also celebrated Sydney's birthday and had chocolate cake. Then, we all went home at around 11:40. Overall, today was very interesting and fun, and I am excited for Segovia tomorrow!

I came to Spain with so many goals and things I wanted to do, and looking back at the trip I really accomplished everything that I hoped I would.  I learned so much about Spanish culture not only from the class we took at the University but because I lived it for two weeks.  I got to experience what it's really like to live in Spain while also studying there and learning the language better.  My skills have improved so much in Spanish.  I used to never want to talk in Spanish because I thought my accent and pronunciation were off and I made so many mistakes and couldn't always say what I wanted to say, but now I feel comfortable enough that I spoke to someone in Spanish here that didn't speak English well.  Even though I learned so much in Spain, it didn't feel like a school trip.  We were given freedom to explore Salamanca and see places that the school didn't take us to which I really appreciated even though I enjoyed the school trips.  I'm so glad I...
