Day 2

My second day was very fun and full of adventure! We woke up fairly early so that we could all meet at La Plaza Mayor at 10:30 AM. Once we all met up, we walked to a chocolate store where we ate churros with hot chocolate. I especially enjoyed dipping my churro in my hot chocolate! After this, we went to mass in a beautiful cathedral. It was incredible to be able to go to mass in such an old church. Next, Jenna and I went home with our host mom and we ate lunch. We had pasta, salad, fruit, cake, and a lot of bread! It was so delicious. After lunch, Jenna and I went to La Plaza Mayor to walk around and explore. It was so fun! Then, we went home and took a 1 hour siesta! At around 8, we ate dinner. We had soup, Tortillas Espanola, bread, fruit, and salad. It was also very delicious. After dinner, we met up with some friends and did some further exploring around Salamanca. I think Jenna and I know our way around our area of town now, which is nice and comforting. Today has been such a great day, and I can't wait for the next!

I came to Spain with so many goals and things I wanted to do, and looking back at the trip I really accomplished everything that I hoped I would.  I learned so much about Spanish culture not only from the class we took at the University but because I lived it for two weeks.  I got to experience what it's really like to live in Spain while also studying there and learning the language better.  My skills have improved so much in Spanish.  I used to never want to talk in Spanish because I thought my accent and pronunciation were off and I made so many mistakes and couldn't always say what I wanted to say, but now I feel comfortable enough that I spoke to someone in Spanish here that didn't speak English well.  Even though I learned so much in Spain, it didn't feel like a school trip.  We were given freedom to explore Salamanca and see places that the school didn't take us to which I really appreciated even though I enjoyed the school trips.  I'm so glad I...
